Sight Picture

Below is a diagram of the sights on a rifle. Although this is a picture of a .22 smallbore gun, compressed air rifles use the basically the same sight configuration.

This is what you see when looking inside the sights of a target rifle. The object is to align everything consistently.

It is easiest for the eye to align these circles concentrically over and over again, rather than off to the right etc. You also get a clearer picture.
