The Physics Of Refrigerators
Dane Lenaker
Web Project for Physics 212x, Spring 2003 (04/16/03)

Site Overview:

This site contains useful information concerning the physics of refrigerators as well as how refrigeration works.

Key topics to be covered will be:

  1. How a cold engine works
  2. The refrigeration cycle
  3. Different methods
  4. Very basic principles of thermal conduction.

The electric aspect of the refrigerators will mostly be excluded.

By reading through this site, one should walk away with a good, general understanding of the physics of refrigerators. It is best to begin in the cold engine section -- simply hit next to be taken there.
