Air Rifle matches consist of 60 shots
(40 in events specifically for women) take at a target placed
10 meters (33 feet) from the firing line. Each shot is scored
out of ten points, giving a perfect match score of 600. To
score a ten the shooter must take out at dot at the center of
the target that is approximately the size of this period.
Some levels of shooting use paper
targets with ten scoring bulls per target, higher levels of
shooting, or fancier shooting ranges have electronic targets.
These score based on four microphones or vibration sensors in
the four corners, which triangulate the projectile’s point of
impact based on sound waves or vibrations and the amount of
time it takes to reach the sensor.
