Welcome to wall running


An obstacle of the human race for many years has been the wall.
Luckily the Tracuer, or one who does parkour, has developed a solution.

The technique used above is essencially the wall run and can be broken down
into 4 key variable compents which are speed of run up, the jump onto the wall,
the friction force propigating the tracuer upward, and the climb up.


The run up
The tracuer does not run at the wall full speed
Nor does he run at a slow jog, his approach is methodical.

The image above is of parkour patty. He knows that his maximum hieght
to get over the wall can be determined by L+µH+R=W.
L is the length of his legs,
 H is the height of his free jump
µ is the coefficient of friction between his stub feet and the wall
and R is his maximum body reach from foot to hand.
This assuming with perfect technique and that Ø=45 degrees.
Using the potential and kinetic energy equations we can determine


With what we have learned we can conclude that the tracuer in the
gif above didn't free scale that wall. If you notice he helps pull himself up
by grabbing onto a small handhold with his left hand to get his right hand to the ledge
and later places his left foot on the same position to help him get over the wall.
