Acoustic vs. Electric

At the most basic level, acoustic and electric guitars are exactly the same, save for the method of amplifying the sound of the vibrating strings of each. 
Many variations of each exist, mostly to add to a certain musical characteristic, but also to improve function in some cases.  Before going into an explanation
of these amplification methods it is important to understand the basic anatomy of both types of guitar.
