Problems with Cryonics

- Cryonics cannot be performed on living people. This would be beneficial to the person frozen/vitrified because they would be able to be frozen before enough damage was done to actually kill them. At the present time it is illegal to freeze someone before they have legally "died."

- It is debatable as to whether people will even be able to be revived safely. Many companies involved in cryonics claim to have evidence proving that thawing is safe and possible. They point out that many biological specimens have been frozen, at liquid nitrogen temperatures, and revived safely. Some of these specimens include insects, human tissue, and human embryos (CI).Other people claim that we cannot know for sure until trials have been performed. The problem is that we won't know if someone can be safely revived for about 100 years or at least until a revival is done.

- It is possible that an irreparable amount of damage will be caused by the freezing process that the new damage will actually be worse than the old damage. The freezing at liquid nitrogen temperatures may cause unknown damage to human tissue.

-Advancements are always being made and problems are always occurring. Although you would have to be legally dead before any of the processes began, is it still safe to give your body/life up for experiment. It still seems to be in a very experimental stage.

-Many still consider cryonics to be unethical.

-If ice blockers are added but there is not enough cryoprotectants, there will actually be worse ice-damage done than if the ice had been formed at higher temperatures (Best).
