What is Radiation?

The transmission of energy in the form of light, heat, etc. from a body (i.e. atom) as it undergoes internal changes.

There are two types of radiation

• ionizing radiation- High energy particles or waves that have enough energy needed to kick off a charged particle from an atom.
• non-ionizing radiation - Lower energy particles or waves with insufficient energy that is needed to kick off a charged particle from an atom
