Ionizing Radiation
How a body interacts or is ionized is an important factor. A directly ionizing particle is a charged particle that ionizes a body. This is accomplished through a series of small collisions along its path. Through these small collisions, the ionizing particle loses its energy. Examples of directly ionizing particles:
A indirectly ionizing particle is a non charged particle that invades a body along a set path. If it happens to collide with an atom, molecule, etc. then it will free a charged particle. These charge particles are what ionizes a body. Examples of indirectly ionizing particles:
x-rays
*For the purpose of this project, i will only be referring to the examples a, b, and g used above but there are many more forms of directly and indirectly ionizing particles.
