Orthodontic extraction

extractionextraction 2

Many patient chose their orthodontist based upon their theory of extractions during orthodontic treatment.  Orthodontic extraction can be used for multiple purposes including impacted teeth, or even just severe overcrowding.  While an oral surgeon is extracting a tooth torque is used to extract it in the right direction based upon the curve of its roots. Torque is angular acceleration proportional to the product of the force times the lower arm.  The lower arm is proportional to the perpendicular distance from the axis of rotation to the line along which the force acts. This is very important when determining the direction of extraction along with the direction of how to extrude an impacted tooth.
