The
electrons of the gas atoms of the Earth’s atmosphere are the conductors
of the Aurora. When the hydrogen electrons from the sun collide with the electrons
of the gasses and increase in the diameter of the electron orbit occurs in these
gas atoms. With this increase in orbit the resulting atoms have a higher potential
energy than before. However, this orbit can’t be maintained and soon it
reduces back to a lesser orbit. When this occurs energy is released and that
resulting release emits a photon of light. It takes billions of such quantum
leaps to view the Aurora.
