HEADERS

In order for an engine to preform to it's fullest capabilities, it must be able to breathe. After the combustion has taken place, the exhaust valve opens, and releases exhaust fumes as a by product of the current explosion within that particular cylinder. Maximum horsepower and torque is gained if each exhaust port is free to release the exhaust through it's own tube. Regular exhaust manifolds restrict the power of an engine. Headers were designed to defeat that purpose.
