A crater on the moon is named after Henrietta Swan Leavitt: "Leavitt" crater. (Anderson)

In 1962 Swedish mathematician Mittag-Leffler considered nominating her for the 1926 Nobel Prize in Physics. Sadly she had died 4 years prior and was not able to be included in the pool of  Nobel laureates.
  • "Leavitt was a member of Phi Betta Kappa, The American Association of University Women, The American Astronomical and Astrophysical Society (now the American Astronomical Society), the American Association  for the Advancement of Science and an honorary member of the American Association of Variable Star Observers" (Byers).
