Typewriter hammers
https://www.explainthatstuff.com/typewriter.html
As seen above these are hammers of a typewriter. These hammers swing up from there position and strike a thin film of ink and sandwich it between the paper and the hammer. This leaves an imprint of whatever character was struck.
After the hammer has struck the paper and ink a spring pulls the hammer back down to its original position.
How does the hammer go up in the first place?
When someone presses a key the force they apply on the key then applies a torque onto a lever that gives a torque onto the arm of the hammer causing it to swing upward.
