Wax your board every 2-3 trips.

SPEED

  •    The board moves quickly downhill due to the melting snow. The melting is caused because of the friction between the board and the snow. The melted snow acts as a lubricant to the bottom of your board. The water is present along the entire surface of the board that touches the snow. Essentially, the rider is coasting on a small layer of water.
  • As a snowboarding gains speed his/her gravitational potential energy is being converted into kinetic energy.
  • The forces affecting the speed of the snowboarder are caused by gravity which is positive while drag and friction oppose and are negative. Because of this simple principle the rider's goal is to have as little drag and friction forces as possible if he/she wants a lot of speed.
