Physics of blocking
As stated earlier when you block you
need to create enough momentum as to
deflect the attacker's punch or kick away from you. The first step to basic blocking is the chambering of the arm, which is usually done at the same height that you would do a punch from.  From there, there are nine basic blocks that you could execute.

High block, inside middle block, outside middle block, outside forearm block, low block, knife hand high block, knife hand inside middle block, knife hand outside forearm block, and knife hand low block.

No block should exceed the boundaries of your body.  Never reach for a block, if you have to reach to block it, it is not worth blocking.

For further use of these blocks sign up for Master Wrights TaeKwon Do Class on the
University of Alaska Fairbanks Campus.
