Almost all spacecraft within the Star Wars Universe has the capability to, as they say, make the jump to lightspeed. The problem with that, according to Albert Einstien, you cannot go faster than the speed of light. The faster you propel matter to the speed of light, the more energy you will need to maintain that speed. So you would need an infinite amount of energy to try and reach the speed of light.
Hyperspace is another term used instead of lightspeed, and this is a reasonable concept. Hyperspace is a different way to travel through space. One way is to open a wormhole. A wormhole is a shortcut from one point in space to another point in space over a great distance. Instead of trying to travel millions of miles to get to your destination, you could use this wormhole to get there in a fraction of the time.
