ABSTRACT

I will discuss progress in our understanding of the physics of the solar wind. Each of the nine outstanding questions will be presented in terms of our present knowledge of the topic, the unknowns, and how we might go about answering these most fundamental questions of solar wind physics. In the process I will present an in-depth discussion of a new framework to classify the solar wind that goes beyond the standard slow/fast paradigm. I will also focus on puzzling observations that may provide insight to the missing pieces of our understanding.
