ABSTRACT

In these strange times science policy and funding are very much in flux. Last week I was in Washington DC for an American Physical Society (APS) leadership meeting and had the "opportunity" to spend a day talking to Senate and congressional offices. I will discuss some of the topics from the APS meeting including the new APS "Strategic Plan" and issues such as; the importance of science advocacy, science funding, science education, Open Access ( a hot publication issue) and open communication (a hot policy issue) as well as how APS is addressing science policy questions and how we can learn from that. I will also give my impression of the discussions we had on the hill. Come ask questions if this is of interest to you.
