ABSTRACT

This Will be a report on two of the highlights from the APS-DPP meeting in Portland a few weeks ago. At the meeting one of the best and coolest presentations I have ever seen was given on "High Energy Density Science" I will go through some of Rip Collins' slides to hopefully convey the beauty and weirdness of some of that work and it's applications to everything from new states of matter to planetary interiors to inertial confined fusion. If time remains, I will talk about another review talk at the meeting on the science of sheared flows and turbulence in plasmas.
