Introduction

There are two forms of skiing, “Alpine” and “Nordic”, their names refer to how the forms developed.  “Nordic” skiing began in Scandinavia and skiers pushed themselves over flat land.  “Alpine” began in the Alps where the skiers raced down steep mountains.

There are many different types of skiing, downhill (Alpine), cross-country (Nordic), and ski jumping, to name just a few.  Physics principles enable skiers to execute the techniques involved.
