What is
Simultaneity?
- Relativity of Simultaneity is an
implication of Einstein's special theory of
relativity. Some, such as a professor of Physics
and Finance named Espen Haug, regard it as "a
cornerstone prediction in Einstein’s theory of
special relativity."
- Two events are
simultaneous if they occur at the same time, in
the same reference frame.
- According to
Knight, "Simultaneity is determined by when
the events actually happen, not when they are
seen or observed" (p. 1032).
- The events may occur at
different positions and still be simultaneous,
as long as they are in the same reference frame.
