A Grand Unified Theory (GUT) would unify the fundamental forces.  James Maxwell took the first step when he unified electricity and magnetism, which we now know are aspects of the same force (given high enough temperatures) [²].  Many speculate that the Strong interaction could also be unified under the Standard Model given high enough temperatures.  In fact, current data suggests that they do in fact merge at a certain temperature [²].  Unfortunately the graph neglects gravity, or any kind of interaction of mass which would be inherent in a successful GUT.  As mentioned before, this won't be possible until a quantum gravitation exists.
