Friction
- Do you think a basketball is
completely smooth? Although it may look like it
at a distance, it is actually quite rough and
includes pebbling
- "Have you ever noticed the bumpy
dots on the surface of a basketball? That's
called pebbling (they look like tiny pebbles,
don't they?)

- These pebbles help players grip
the ball and makes it easier to pass, shoot, and
dribble. Friction is important in the game of
basketball and this is just one example of it.
- Another important example of
friction is the type pf shoes worn by players.
Specific shoes are made just for basketball
which provide players with great grip and
comfortability that create a fair amount of
friction between them and the floor. Without
this friction, players would be sliding all over
the place and that is dangerous!
