The water coming from the hot water heater is extremely hot. Burn your face off hot. Which would equal a very high temperature in the room if something wasn’t done. The Radiant Mixing Block (RMB) does as the name implies and mixes the water from the water heater with the water coming back from the tubing to regulate/lower the water temperature.

Think of it like this, you have a cup of hot black coffee. You add some cool milk to it. At first nothing happens but as the milk becomes warmer it seemingly flows back towards the top and reduces the temperature of the coffee. This is due to a process known as Convection.

Convection is the familiar idea that “heat rises.” As water is heated it becomes less dense and rises to the surface. Water doesn’t stack so the cold water moves downward. This motion essentially mixes the coffee in our example and spreads the milk throughout.
