Taking pictures
or 'direct imaging' is the most straight forward
method as it really is just snapping a
photograph of the planet and
using software
to better view it. It is difficult to remove the
glare from the star although, it does consume
the picture in most cases. This is one of the
less
common methods used to find
planets as it isn't always easy to capture such
small planets being blocked by the brightness of
the stars they orbit. A
whopping 44 planets
have been discovered using this method by NASA.
