- Watching for wobble
is a unique way of discovering planets orbiting
stars. 'Wobble' occurs when a planet orbiting
a star causes the star to actually orbit as
well, this makes a change in color that
astronauts are able to observe. Over 600 stars
have been discovered by watching for this
change in color. Watching for wobble is the
2nd most popular way to find new planets
orbiting stars. An example of a star 'wobbling'
from its orbiting planet can be seen below,
the wave simulates the changing light.
