Getting the Walnuts Cleaned

Getting the Walnuts Cleaned

  • When the walnuts are picked up and ready to be processed, they are run through a machine called a "huller."
  • The "huller" actually removes the green, outer-shell of the walnuts. They are then washed and dried until their sent off to be cracked and packaged.
  • The "huller" uses kinetic and static friction to rub the hulls off the shells.
