Effect of Spin on Baseball




The Magnus force = .5*Coefficient of lift*Cross sectional area of ball*(velocity of ball)^2
The equation above is what determines the Magnus force which is one of the forces acting on a baseball as it spins and flies through the air

Drag force = 5*Coefficient of drag*Cross sectional area of ball*(velocity of ball)^2
This equation determins the Drag force as the ball is flying through the air

The other force acting on the baseball is the gravitational force
