Torque Physics of Machining Safety
Bibliography
A lathe in a machining device with which you can
shape wood, metal and other materials by the removal of chips or
small pieces of material. Lathes remove chips by rotating the
workpiece in the chuck and then bringing the tooling into the side
or end of the workpiece using the cross-slide and then moving it
laterally down the ways to shape the workpiece. Lathes can do
boring, turning and facing processes. While most lathes are
computer controlled in this era there are still many shops and
factories that continue to use manual feed lathes.
