Background
Water
skiing is a unique sport that uses some very
interesting physics. Factors that come into this
sport when preparing to water ski are size,
weight, speed and water conditions. Everyone of
these factor are dependent on one another.

There are many different types of water skiing but for my website I will be focusing on
slalom water skiing (single ski). In slalom, skiers
are towed at a speed in the range of 14-36mph. The
lower end of the range are usually for children and
an adult may need up to 36 mph to ski. The speed
mostly depends on the size of the ski and the weight
of the skier. Meaning that a heavier ski will need a
larger ski with more surface area to be towed at the
same speed as someone that is lighter.
