Summary:
Lead climbing is one of
the more popular climbing styles when climbing in the
outdoors. Lead climbing allows you to make anchors as you
scale a rock or wall versus having a single anchor placed at
the top of the route. This increases the danger of the fall.
For this reason, the belayer's part in the climb is very
important as they are responsible for both providing enough
slack in the rope so the climber can ascend the route, and
also being quick in providing the correct combination of
tension and slack if the climber were to suddenly fall.
