Price! $$$
People cannot go to an amusement park with out being astonished by the admittance prices. According to the Six Flags Magic mountain website a day pass is in upwards of $50+ per person! However those prices come with good reason. Expedition Everest, a ride at Disney World was built in 2011 with a price tag of over 100 million dollars! That's equivalent to 1000 brand new corvette stingrays fully loaded! Now the average price range is quite large depending on the building material and its purpose, but we are seeing today that building the new biggest and baddest engineering feats are costing a shiny penny.
There are 3 main reasons for these costs "show factor", design, and materials. The "show factor,"  includes all the special effects and mountain scenery or space station stuff. Depending on how life like it's desired to be costs for this can run into the millions before the track is ever made. Next is design, depending on if you want to make the tallest, fastest, most loops, or splashes there are a great many things to consider like passenger safety, structural integrity and materials. With that material cost plays a huge role especially with so much force being applied to certain zones the material needs to be able to hold up without buckling. All things considered its understandable to see how these can cost so much.

Here is an Image of Expedition Everest. As you can see the landscaping is quite surreal to make it feel lifelike.
