As mankind progresses further into the twenty-first century, finding new and more efficient ways to harness energy will be vitally important for our continued advancement and survival. An area of energy production with much room for improvement is that of vehicle energy production. Two and four stroke internal combustion engines are widely used in cars, and they only operate at about 20% efficiency. Many endeavors are underway to create more efficient engines: one such project is the wave disk engine. If successful, the engine could theoretically operate at up to 60%. While it would not operate at this efficiency in reality, it would still be a large improvement.
