Cons
- More oxides of
nitrogen in emissions, which is
harmful to breath
- Audi claims
cost would go up approximately 5% for
an engine equipped with direct
injection compared to a regular
electronic fuel injected engine
(howstuffworks.com)
- Due
to extremely tight tolerances
in injectors, they are very sensitive
and can become plugged if debris
is pulled from the fuel tank
- Carbon buildup
on valves can decrease power and cause
engine knocking
