The Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory
The Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory is an astronaut training facility
that uses the principle of neutral buoyancy to simulate
weightlessness in space.
First the astronaut is lowered into the pool using a crane. The
suited astronauts are weighted by support divers so that the
astronauts experience
the least rotational movement and buoyant force. The pool contains
6.2 million gallons of water!! It is located at the Johnson Space
Center in
Houston, Texas.
