Skate Technique

Skating is considerably the faster technique in cross-country skiing. Skate skiing again is divided into 3-4 techniques that are used on different terrains. These are all built on the same principle.
Skier uses longer poles and shorter skis than for classic technique as this technique is not simply a motion in front direction. Skier pushes the skis to the side, perpendicular to the direction of movement to engage the force and adds a simultaneous push with the poles.

F is the perpendicular force exerted on the ski by the snow.
Ω (Omega) is the angle between the direction of motion and the pushing ski.
