Dropping a pot isn't something that happens regularly but in a studio with many students' shelves close together and also high enough to need a step stool to reach, it's bound to happen. Free fall acts on the pot as it falls, and the sudden equal force of the ground as well as the weight of the pot itself pushing downwards is what causes it to shatter upon collision. image of falling pot
