Weight
- A weight is an optional
attachment that you can add onto your lure to
help it sink deeper and reduce the impact of air
drag.

- Because a weight is optional,
and totally dependent on what sort of lure and
rod you have, the "best" mass for a weight
varies. Generally, you don't want to go over 5oz
and the most common is 2oz.
- As I mentioned before, the trick
to minimizing fishing effort is to achieve the
perfect reel speed: as slow as possible while
still intriguing the fish. According to Alaska
Outdoors, good salmon trolling speed is about
0.5 meters per second.
- Emulating the professionals, 0.5
meters per second (about 1 mile per hour) is the
ideal reeling speed, but in order to have your
lure not get stuck on bottom, you need to alter
the way you reel based on the weight you have
attached, and the drag the water can put on your
lure and weight.
