Born on May 31st,
1912 near Shanghai to Funhua Fan
(mother) and Zhong-Yi Wu (father).
Chien-Shiung Wu had
the benefit of support from family(especially that
of her father).Which probably
solidified her desire in
continuing her education despite
the rampant sexism of her time.
Her father was an
engineer who championed women’s
education and started a school for
girls, this is actually where
Chien’s early education began!
