Misconceptions _______________________________________ Some different ways that people mistakenly think Centrifugal force is real. 1) Some people know that there's no such thing as centrifugal force. but think Centripetal force is called "centrifugal." 2) People think mistakenly think that reactionary centrifugal force extends to apply on the rotating object. 3) When an object moving along a circular path is taken as moving along a straight line, then it's momentum feels like an outward force, for example when taking a sharp turn in a car. Since many people have experienced this without fully considering what's happening, this leads to many people to have mistaken ideas about centrifugal and centripetal forces.
