How to find the measurement? Energy, like many things is measured in units.  One way energy can be measured     is with calories.                                                                                                             Picture from the Science Buddies This measurement can be found using a tool called: the Bomb Calorimeter.   The Bomb Calorimeter works by heating a substance inside a metal capsule surrounded by water.  Heat is transferred to the water by the metal as the substance burns. This process causes the water's temperature to increase.
