Potential Energy

One of the most important energy forms of a Yo-Yo is its Potential Energy. This is given by U = mgh. M is the mass of the Yo-Yo, g is the acceleration due to gravity (9.8 m/s^2), and h which is the height that the Yo-Yo travels downward. The height is limited by the strings length. Before the Yo-Yo is released, the string in wrapped around the axle of the Yo-Yo.

U = m g h

U is the potential energy

m is the mass of the Yo-Yo

g is the acceleration due to gravity

h is the length of the string
