History of the Camera:

- Photography stared out with an invention called the Camera Obscura in the late 1700s
        - This was basically a dark chamber in which a small hole was made to illumate and project images for artist to draw, trace, and sketch.

- It was not until the 1820's when the first "image" was captured.
        - French inventor, Nicephore Niepce, and artist, Louis Daguerre, successfully captured the first "image" by fitting a glass prism to the end of the camera obscura which would focus the light onto a plate of iodized silver solution which, when reacted to light, would 'freeze' the image in the prism.
        - Daguerre figured out that after the image was 'frozen' into the silver solution, you would need to expose it to a mercury solution to permanently freeze the image onto the plate. He effectively created the first Darkroom.
        - This method was heavily refined throughout the years to be more portable, and to produce better images.

- In the 1920s the first 'modern' 35mm film camera was produced.
        - This literally change the wold of photography. You no longer needed a huge, bulky setup to produce an image. A photographer could grab his/her camera and go.

- From 1935 - 1975 could be considered "photography's golden years."
        - New camera inventions were coming out left and right. Color Photography was also significantly developed during this time.
        - Inventions include:
            - Polaroid cameras
            - Kodak film cameras
            - Etc...

- The first digital camera prototype was produced in 1975 by Steven Sasson
        - Since then, digital photography has revolutionized the photographic world. That combined with more compact digital storage advancements, photography has never been so mobile and accessible.
        - In modern times, cameras can take photos of over 50 megapixels and photographers can see their results almost instantly.
