Work

The easiest example of work in the skiing community is the work done by the chairlift. The chairlift brings skiers to the top of the mountain, sometimes over a total displacement of almost 2000 meters.
Work is equivalent to the force, divided by the distance. There are a lot of forces on the chairlift, such as gravity, tension, rolling friction, and drag. With so many forces, and such a long distance, chairlifts can do massive amounts of work.
