Tennis is a
fun and competitive sport that
welcomes all ages and skill
levels. Although tennis is
fairly easy to play, it is a
complicated and difficult
sport to understand from a
Physics perspective.

My Experience

I
started playing tennis the summer
before freshman year of high
school. I played all four years at
Lathrop High School and placed
fourth at the Alaska State
Championships my senior year.
After graduating in the spring of
2015 I was asked to come back and
coach in the fall of 2016. That
year our girls doubles team won a
State Championship.
The goal of this website is to
briefly summarize some of the
Physics of tennis. I will cover
some tennis history, the different
court surfaces of tennis, tennis
equipment, and the three types of
tennis shots.
