How does Physics apply to
Basketball?
- Playing basketball almost my
whole life, I never thought of the physics
aspect of the game
- In basketball, you must put a
force onto the ball in order to score a basket
- It requires more force to shoot
the ball further away from the basket
- people have studied how much
force needs to be put into shooting from certain
spots on the basketball court (physics)
- Also, depending on your height,
there are different angles you can shoot the
ball (physics)
- There is a term in basketball
called "Shooters Touch" which means you put a
certain amount of spin on the ball while
shooting it, and if it hits
the rim in a specific spot, it has the chance to
roll in
