Physics is life. Everything we do in life
concerns physics. It can explain anything on earth that we
can think of. I, personally, love skateboarding even if i
cannot skateboard, so I decided to discover how physics can
explain skateboarding. Skaters have fun while performing
cool skateboard tricks, but some don't actually know that
the laws of physics help them do what they do. When
performing an Ollie, three majors forces act on the
skateboard just before the skater jumps in the air. These
forces are: The weight of the skater which is indicated by
the blue arrow on the picture above pointing down, then we
have the force of gravity on the skateboard indicated by the
black arrow and we finally have the force of the ground
pushing up on the skateboard indicated by the blue arrow
pointing up. These three forces balance out to zero, which
is why the skateboard rolls along at a constant speed. Vh on
the picture is just showing the velocity at which the
skateboarder rides along.
