Around Reykjanes Peninsula

We left the hotel in Keflavik after an ok nights sleep. The cars roared down the main street all night, perhaps a summer event!

Blue Lagoon

Power plant.

Warm steaming inviting pools of geothermally warmed water containing cyano-algae, which gives the blue color.

Eldey Island (center of photo below) off the Reykanes Peninsula is home to many breeding Gannets!

The Midatlantic Rift, where the European and American Plates are separating.

The rift is about 10 meters across.

At the airport getting ready to leave!

Our airplane to Minneapolis.

Views of sea ice and Greenland from the air.

WARNING: Many, possibly boring to some, sea ice and glacier pictures to follow...

Meltponds are visible.
