Out Building Progress
The foundation has been dug and
the lower walls built.
Blue board is placed below the
final cement slab to insulate the floor.
The building goes up.
9/29/2003 The car port/porch goes
up.
9/30/2003- Roof Installation (brown
metal)
10/2/2003, Construction (Excellent
job by White Spruce Enterprises)
complete, Garage Door & Finishing still left to complete.
Due to the unusually warm weather
this October we began staining the outbuilding on the 4th of October.
We used Superdeck-transparent
stain. It was rolled on (David) and brushed on (Renate).
We finished the
staining on the second day (5Oct). The second coat can be put on next summer!
Next, the ceiling
had to be insulated. Cardboard thingies are placed at the ends to allow for
air circulation above the insulation.
Clear (do not let
them sell you black) sheeting is placed over the insulation to form a vapor
barrier. The seams are sealed using 'acoustic sealant'. It is convenient to
have graduate students (Ryan Woodard) so when they come over to borrow something
they can be put to work as was the case on this day.
David uses a plumb
to draw a straight line so the drywall is attached along the studs. A panel
lift was used to lift the drywall up to the ceiling. The ceiling drywall must
be done before the garage door can be installed (12-14 Oct, ceiling insulation).
Garage door is in
place on October 17th. Still no snow, just frost.
29 Nov 2003 after
about 24" of snow this month!
