The "Task Force on the Future of American Innovation", which is made up of a variety of organizations from industry and academia, has put together a report on our current state of innovation and the implications for the future. They developed a variety of measures to characterize the current state which give a rather sobering view of the situation. I will present their report to stimulate discussion on this issue.
